Privacy Policy

1. What Data We Collect

Account Data

When you sign up, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we also receive your avatar from those providers.

Usage Data

We collect standard usage data — pages visited, products viewed, and general navigation patterns. This helps us understand how people use the platform and where to improve.

Ratings and Reviews

When you rate or review a product, that content is stored and associated with your user account.

Product Submissions

If you submit a product for scoring, the submission details are stored and associated with your account.

Affiliate Links

Some outbound links to products on RookRank may use affiliate tracking via Skimlinks. This means if you click through and make a purchase, RookRank may earn a small commission. This does not affect product scores or rankings in any way. Affiliate relationships have zero influence on how products are rated.

2. How We Use Your Data

• Provide the service. Scoring, rankings, ratings, product profiles — everything that makes RookRank work.
• Improve the platform. Usage data helps us fix bugs, improve UX, and build features people actually want.
• Send transactional emails. Account confirmation, password resets, purchase receipts. We keep it minimal.
• We do not sell your data. Never have. Never will.
• We do not show ads. There are no advertisements on RookRank currently.

3. Where Your Data Lives

Your data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL), hosted in Sydney, Australia. Data is protected by Row Level Security, meaning users can only access data they're authorised to see. All connections are encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.

4. Data Retention

• Account data is kept while your account is active.
• If you request account deletion, your data will be removed within 30 days.
• Ratings may be anonymised and retained for aggregate scoring purposes (the rating remains, but your identity is removed).

5. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and GDPR (where applicable), you have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data (right to erasure)
• Export your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@rookrank.com. We'll respond within 30 days.

6. Cookies

• Session cookies.Used by Supabase Auth to keep you signed in. These are essential for the service to work and don't require separate consent.
• No tracking cookies. We do not currently use any third-party tracking or analytics cookies.
• No third-party analytics cookies. No Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, nothing like that.

7. Third-Party Services

RookRank uses the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Supabase— database and authentication
• Skimlinks — affiliate link tracking on outbound product links
• Cloudflare— CDN and security
• Google / GitHub — OAuth sign-in providers
• Anthropic (Claude) — AI-powered product assessment and scoring. Product metadata (name, URL, description, and publicly available signals) may be sent to Anthropic's Claude API for quality analysis. No personal user data is sent to Anthropic.

Each of these services has their own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them if you have concerns about how they handle data.

8. Children's Privacy

RookRank is not intended for users under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top. For significant changes, we'll notify you by email if you have an account.
